Bookends

The other week I was thinking about albums which have their best tracks at the beginning and end of the album, ie-the opener and closer. Usually an artist will put a good track right at the start, and the thoughtful artists will make sure they finish the album well, but it is quite unusual for them to save their best tracks until last. Anyway, here's five albums where the best tracks are the opening and closing songs.

Meat Puppets II- The Meat Puppets (Split Myself In Two & The Whistling Song)

The Whistling Song (Live)

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars- David Bowie (Five Years & Rock and Roll Suicide)

Five Years (TV Performance)

Nashville Skyline- Bob Dylan (Girl From North Country & Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You)

Girl From North Country (TV Performance with Johnny Cash)

Door, Door- The Boys Next Door (The Nightwatchmen & Shivers)

Shivers (Video-clip)

Wait Long By The River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By- The Drones (Sharkfin Blues & This Time)

This Time- The Drones (PBS FM Live Recording)

Happy listening.

Have you considered Portishead's "Dummy"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dummy_%28album%29)
Some may say "Sour times" or "Roads" far outweighs Mysterons in quality but i think its an amazing opener to a phenomenal album.

Having said that... I work for a small company out of Brisbane that represents a broad range of ‘quality assured’ Australian and New Zealand independent artists. (I say ‘quality assured’ in quotations because obviously if we sent you rubbish that would defeat both our purposes!)

Without beating around the bush,

We’d like to offer you occasional music releases for you to consider reviewing on your blog (just an email with some basic artist info and a link to download the song if you’re keen.)

If you want to check out some of our stuff to get a taste (all available on myspace), we’re currently working with Melbournians Skipping Girl Vinegar, Sydney funk-rockers Bluejuice and NZers Spa.

We pride ourselves on managing some of the best emerging Australian Independent talent around; so if you’re interested, or just want to have a yarn about music in general, either come check out our Heapsablog and leave us a message or give us a shout back on this email address.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you,

Cheers,

Will.

I went to Doll House and had the worst experience of my life. I ordered a dress 3 months before my formal and it didn’t come in. she told me the dress was customized but was told a week before my formal that they could not do it and was told to chose another dress from the shop which upset me as I had my heart set on the dress I ordered. Thank you Doll House for destroying my only formal it was the worst time
